With a wave of his icy fingers, the Snow King unleashed a bitter frost on the tropical islands across Earth. Setting up a palace on the edge of this arctic wasteland, he safeguarded his empire by building a chain of 60 puzzles meant to stop even the wisest sage from breaking the spell. It's up to you to fill the frozen arctic images with stunning ice pieces to bring the sun back to your tropical island home!
Arctic Quest is a great matching type puzzle thriller where you have to fit different shaped ice cubes into a puzzle grid. The aim is to fill the grid before the cubes fall into the sea. If there are too many ice cubes in the sea before you fill the puzzle board you lose. Now this is not a really easy game, to win, so you better have your thinking cap on while playing Arctic Quest. I liked the simple clean graphics, straight forward play and the difficulty degree is somewhat challenging. Arctic Quest is a pure winner all round and for a totally free puzzle game it certainly is one you can play over and over without hurting the back pocket. This game is similar to Magic Inlay, and the rest of the "inlay" family of games. The only difference between them is that in Arctic Quest, you only have shapes that are compatible with triangles. You have to really plan ahead to figure out how to position the pieces without leaving gaps, because the single triangles are few and far between and most puzzles must be completed with shapes other than the single triangles. There are bonuses, which help you complete the puzzles. There is a bonus to fill in those pesky single triangles, a slow down bonus and a bonus that turns all the pieces in the water into single triangles; however, there are not enough bonuses to be able to use them on every level. Toward the end, say, after level 45, the pieces fall very fast and there is no time to think about where to position them. As with all the inlay-type games, I thoroughly enjoyed this challenge.
